Teeth Whitening

One of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments available, teeth whitening is an excellent, minimally-invasive treatment to give you a whiter, brighter smile.

Our teeth whitening treatments involve using a bleaching agent, like hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, in custom-made trays to gradually whiten the teeth.

As we age the teeth can often discolour, our diets and lifestyle habits like drinking tea, coffee, red wine and smoking are all common factors that can lead to teeth discolouration.

Teeth whitening treatments are used to improve the brightness and help to restore the natural whiteness of the teeth, giving you your confidence back and a smile to show off to your peers.

At Market Street Clinic we offer a home whitening package meaning less time in the dental chair and longer lasting results all from the comfort of your own home. Two appointments are required as we will see you for a consultation first to make sure teeth whitening is the best and most suitable option for you, at this appointment we will either take a set of impressions of your teeth or take an intra oral scan with our state-of-the-art digital scanner to create a digital impression of your teeth.

These impressions are then sent to the lab to create a set of custom-made trays for you to then use the whitening gel inside. At the second appointment, we will fit the trays and provide all the instructions and materials required to whiten your teeth at home. The whitening process usually takes about 2 weeks and is the perfect option if you have a special event such as a wedding or a last minute party to attend. We encourage patients to attend a quick review at the end of their whitening treatment.

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a minimally-invasive technique used to repair worn, chipped or uneven teeth. A thin layer of composite resin is applied to the teeth, then carefully sculpted to restore your teeth to their natural beauty.

The resin is shade matched to your natural teeth, to create a seamless and natural result. It is also possible to use this technique to cover the surface of your teeth to hide cracks or stained teeth and can often be used in a lighter shade to create a whiter, brighter smile.

Composite bonding is widely used cosmetically in conjunction with teeth whitening and realignment of the teeth with cosmetic braces or aligners, and is frequently used as part of a smile makeover.

Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are designed to cover the front surface of the teeth in order to improve their appearance. They are typically made from porcelain or resin composite materials, and are used to correct a variety of cosmetic dental problems, including:

  1. Discoloured or stained teeth
  2. Chipped or broken teeth
  3. Irregularly shaped teeth
  4. Teeth with gaps between them
  5. Teeth that are slightly misaligned

The veneering process usually involves two visits to the dentist. During the first visit, we will prepare the teeth by removing a small amount of enamel from their surface. This is done to ensure that the veneers fit properly and look natural. Your dentist will then take an impression or digital scan of the prepared teeth, which will be used to create the custom-made veneers. This is then sent to one of our dental technicians or master ceramists to produce unique porcelain veneers bespoke to you.

At the second visit, the veneers will be bonded to the teeth using a special dental adhesive. The dentist will first check the fit and colour of the veneers to make sure they look natural and match the surrounding teeth. Once the veneers are bonded in place, they can be cared for just like natural teeth, with regular brushing and flossing.

Seeing a dentist and hygienist for routine check-ups and cleanings is essential to maintain the longevity of your new beautiful smile.

Dental veneers can provide a long-lasting and effective solution for improving the appearance of your smile.

If you are considering dental veneers, it is important to consult with your dentist, who can assess your individual needs and help determine if veneers are right for you

Invisible Fillings

In recent years white tooth-coloured fillings have gained increasing popularity replacing the old-style traditional metal mercury amalgam fillings.

Metal mercury amalgam fillings can be safely removed and replaced with composite resin or porcelain ceramic restorations. The aim is to restore the tooth, using state of the art techniques, to create natural results that are almost invisible to the eye.

If a tooth has decay or a hole (cavity) in the tooth we use white fillings to repair and restore the tooth back to its original form. The fillings are shade matched to your natural tooth, and are blended in artistically in layers to ensure an aesthetically pleasing result. These fillings are done in a single appointment. White fillings are also used to repair broken or worn teeth and can be used cosmetically to repair chipped teeth, this is commonly known as composite bonding.

Sometimes a lab made restoration is required for larger cavities to strengthen the tooth to ensure longevity. These restorations are called inlays or onlays and are created by a dental technician. This is a two-step process meaning a second appointment is required to bond the restoration in place once it has been beautifully crafted by our technician.

At Market Street Clinic we are proud to offer materials and treatments that are environmentally friendly, mercury free and biologically neutral.
